The Black Family Legacy Playbook

You’re richer than you think.

Most families have more to pass on than they realize, and no plan for passing it on. This is the plan.

The house. The retirement account from two jobs ago. The policy through work. The land down home. The Playbook helps your family find what you have, protect it, and pass it on, one conversation at a time.

Where your family's wealth is hiding

Why you're richer than you think

The house

For many Black families, home equity is the biggest piece of family wealth. It's also the easiest to lose when nobody plans for it.

The account from two jobs ago

Old retirement accounts don't disappear. They wait, sometimes for years, for someone who knows to look.

The policy through work

Many people have life insurance they've never read, with a beneficiary they chose a long time ago.

The land down home

Family land held without a clear title is one of the most common ways Black families lose property.

Money with your name on it

Forgotten accounts, uncashed checks, and old deposits end up with the state, waiting to be claimed.

The business

For owners, the business is often most of the family's net worth, and it may depend on one person.

Black family wealth grew faster than any other group's between 2019 and 2022, according to the Federal Reserve. Yet only about 8 percent of Black families reported receiving an inheritance, compared with about 28 percent of white families, according to an Urban Institute analysis of the same survey. We are building. The Playbook is about making sure what we build gets passed on.

What's inside

  • A plan you can actually finish. Five plays that take your family from “we should really talk about this” to “it's handled.”
  • 52 conversations that need to be had. The questions to ask, why each one matters, and one small step for each. Use one a week for a year, or bring one to the next family dinner.
  • Your starting point, by situation. Young children, aging parents, a family business, family land, a blended family, a recent loss. Go straight to what fits your life right now.
  • Fill-in worksheets. Where everything is, the people to call, a beneficiary check, and a document checklist, ready to print.
  • A 30-day starter plan. Four weeks, four steps. Most families can close at least one serious gap in the first month.
  • A section for your advisor. Share it with your banker, advisor, or attorney so everyone works from the same plan.

A look inside / Conversation 01

“When I'm gone, who gets what, and does everyone already know?”

One small step. Take a sheet of paper and make three columns: what I own, who I'd want to have it, and who needs to know. Fill in five lines. That's your first draft.

51 more inside.

It's for you if

  • You have children and no will yet
  • You worry about your parents' plan
  • There's a family home or land
  • You own a business
  • You've ever said, “We should really talk about this”

Why $27

We could charge more. We chose not to.

Because the families who need this most have been priced out the longest. Planning has too often been treated as something for the wealthy. $27 is a price a family can say yes to the same night they decide to start.

Because it's the first step, not the last. The Playbook doesn't replace an attorney or advisor. It gets you ready for one. Walk in with your worksheets done and your family on the same page, and every paid hour goes further.

Because it's meant to be used, not saved for someday. A guide that sits on a shelf protects nobody. We priced it so you'll open it this week.

Because it covers the whole household. One purchase. Print it, share it with your spouse, your siblings, your parents. No subscription. No upsell.

What's at stake is a home, a piece of land, a lifetime of savings, and a family that still talks to each other afterward. $27 is the smallest number in that sentence.
